Established in 1996 by the Social Work Public Relations Committee, Synergy is the national VHA Social Work newsletter. “Synergy” is derived from the Greek syn-ergo meaning working together. It is the term used to describe a situation where the final outcome of a system is greater than the sum of its parts and the resulting benefits from combining two (or more) different groups or processes.
Synergy is
a quarterly
publication with articles on the accomplishments, innovations, best
practices,
and research of VA social workers. The newsletter provides information and points of interest about social work in the VA regarding current and future trends in social work practice, accomplished leaders and other useful information. With the
wide use of
the Internet, it is now easily
accessible to staff social workers, managers,
and VACO/VISN/facility leaders.
