Sabrina P. Goodson earned her Master of Social Work degree from Clark Atlanta University in 2011. She graduated top of her class and was inducted into two honor societies. She is a licensed clinical Social Worker with a strong background in mental health and substance abuse. Ms. Goodson began her federal career with the Veterans Healthcare Administration in 2014. She now works for the Atlanta VA Healthcare System and serves in an administrative role with the Community Care Medicine Social Work Program.
Ms. Goodson has been a member of the Association of VA Social Workers since 2015 and volunteered to serve as Site Leader for Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare (CAVHCS) where she provided education about the Association and encouraged membership. Ms. Goodson was appointed to the position of Member At Large, Leadership under the direction of then President, LeAnn Bruce and again under then President Wendyann R. Wyatt. Ms. Goodson was elected at President Elect during the Strategic Planning Meeting held in Biloxi, MS.
Ms. Goodson is a member of the Veterans Central Office, Leadership Council, Quality, Value and Service (VACO, LC, QVS) committee since 2022 and co-chairs the Social Work Retention sub-committee where she shares her passion for advocating for VA Social Workers. Locally Ms. Goodson is a member of the Destructive Behavior Committee, trainer for the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) program, and is a BLS instructor.
In her rare spare time she volunteers as a Master Trainer for the Services for Armed Forces, an initiative through the American Red Cross that provides behavioral health training to military and veteran service members and their families. Through this program she trains facilitators to teach resiliency techniques including improved communications skills, relating to children, identifying PTSD symptoms, recognizing the signs of depression and self-care skills to active duty military, reservists, veterans and their family members.
