Mildred Marie Spann, MSW, LCSW graduated with a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2006. I started my VA career as a Social Worker at the Clement Zablocki VA in Milwaukee Wisconsin in 2007. My career experience working at the VA includes working as a Primary Therapist in the Domiciliary Rehabilitation Transitional Program for 8 years. I worked in a specialized program providing clinical services to OEF/OIF/OND veterans who suffered from issues such as PTSD, substance abuse, anger, depression, grief, and other mental health related issues. I have a certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy and have been trained in Motivational Interviewing. I’m currently working in the Homeless Prevention Program as a HUD-VASH Clinical Care Coordinator. Working in the Homeless Program has been an rewarding experience because I witness veterans go from being homeless to obtaining permanent housing. I’m passionate about working as a Social Worker for the VA, because I’m a veteran and I love helping other veterans.
