Simone Ward is a licensed master’s level Social Worker (LMSW) at the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta Veteran Affairs Medical Center, where she currently serves as a Community Care Medicine Social Worker within the Social Work Service Line. Ms. Ward began her VA and Social Work career with Joseph M. Cleland VAMC in August 2020 as an Inpatient Psychiatric Social Work Intern. She is a May 2021 graduate of Kennesaw State University and was immediately hired as a VA employee due to her superior work performance as an intern.

In 2022, Ms. Ward was appointed as the Association of VA Social Workers (AVASW) Executive Committee Secretary for a two-year term. Ms. Ward has used this appointment to expand her knowledge and reach as a VA Social Worker. She communicates recent Legislative updates and feedback with the VA Social Work Service Line (SWSL); this has allowed VA Social Workers to express their voices and take a stance to protect the integrity of care for our Veterans and the VA values and mission. Ms. Ward believes in who and what she was hired for; to provide our Veterans with top-notch services and provide ICARE values to each person she encounters, regardless of whether a Veteran or provider.
