MISSION
The Association of VA Social Workers (AVASW) supports the delivery of the highest quality healthcare and services to Veterans, their families and caregivers through promoting the unique skills, expertise and professionalism of VA social workers through education, collaboration and advocacy for all VA social workers across the entire spectrum of the VA Healthcare System.

 

VISION
AVASW will be the clear and independent voice for VA Social Workers promoting a collective sense of professional identity and unity to enhance services to Veterans, their families and their caregivers.

The Association of VA Social Workers is an independent voice for our membership. Our core values are to:

  • Inspire and model an independent voice to facilitate open and transparent dialogue among members and leadership that respects and values the input of all

  • Support the professional exchange of knowledge, information and resources among VA Social Workers, across all disciplines and the greater Social Work community

  • Honor the contributions and achievements made by VA social workers who serve Veterans, Families and Caregivers within the mission of the VA

  • Advocate for a work environment that supports and enhances the professional services provided by VA Social Workers

  • Respect the professionalism of VA Social Work and its essential functions in VA Healthcare
